Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) of HAVC System

Testing

Testing is the use of specialized and calibrated instruments to measure temperatures, pressures, rotational speeds, electrical characteristics, velocities, and air and water quantities for an evaluation of equipment and system performance.

Adjusting

Adjusting is the final setting of balancing devices such as dampers and valves, adjusting fan speeds and pump impeller sizes, in addition to automatic control devices such as thermostats and pressure controllers to achieve maximum specified system performance and efficiency during normal operation.

Balancing

Balancing is the methodical regulation of system fluid flows (air or water) through the use of acceptable procedures to achieve the desired or specified airflow or water flow.

Air Balance Consulting Engineers, is the leading authority in Total System Balancing (TSB), a comprehensive approach that ensures every HVAC component operates at peak efficiency and meets design intent. Our TSB process covers air handling, hydronic systems, and controls, optimizing performance to reduce energy costs, prevent malfunctions, and enhance occupant comfort.

Our skilled project managers and supervisors create and implement tailored test plans, verifying proper interfacing between all HVAC components. We provide full-service support, including document review during design, construction observations, duct pressure testing, and detailed reports. We assess key factors such as noise, temperature, airflow, pressurization, and smoke control, testing under peak and seasonal conditions. Deficiencies are tracked, corrected, and retested, ensuring full compliance.

With unmatched expertise and attention to detail, we deliver complete performance data that’s easy for facility engineers and maintenance teams to reference.
